Arganto podcast: transmedia storytelling and generative memory for an artist’s archive

2007

The paper discusses the role of the podcast Arganto. Gabriele Devecchi between Art and Design, funded by the Italian Council in 2024 (12th edition), in the strategy for promoting and preserving the heritage held by the artist’s archive.
The podcast is produced by the Gabriele Devecchi Archive and it has served as a tool for gathering a lot of stories contained within the archive, generating new interpretations, representations and readings of them. Based on previously unpublished interviews with Devecchi’s colleagues, scholars, and friends, Arganto constitutes a key component of the transmedia narrative surrounding his work as an artist, designer, and intellectual. By combining broad accessibility with the established narrative conventions of the podcast medium, the project functions not only as a vehicle for dissemination but also as a means of generating a living archive of memory. Complementing institutional practices of research and preservation, it expands the concept of the artist’s archive beyond its material dimension, proposing a broader approach to cultural conservation.
