In a constantly evolving context, characterised by the introduction of increasingly advanced technologies for the enjoyment and conservation of cultural heritage, the museum establishes itself as a place of contemporary life, a space for experimentation and dialogue.
The research explores the theme of representation in the broadest sense: from the use of digital replicas and artificial intelligence to develop interactive forms of communication within exhibition spaces, to the use of information systems to visualise conservation issues through augmented reality.
Through a methodology applied to a selection of works from the Pinacoteca Civica di Ancona – which have been digitised in 3D and at gigapixel resolution and subjected to diagnostic investigations – this paper aims to present a best practice that demonstrates how rigorous documentation can simultaneously support conservation activities and enable diverse visitor experiences, tailored to different audiences.
